An Ultimate Guide to Powell Butte, Oregon

Description Powell Butte, Oregon, is a small mining town in central Oregon, United States, named after the nearby Powell Butte road. It’s on Oregon’s western route 120. It’s off the freeway, right in the heart of the Natural State’s heart. It’s a beautiful little town with some pretty buildings, but it isn’t known as a great hiking or camping destination, nor does it have much to offer for outdoor recreation in the way of wilderness areas or biking trails. There aren’t any great campsites nearby, nor are there many picnic spots and other facilities for nature lovers. The nearest major city to it is in Prineville, so if you’d like to stay close to home, then this is definitely a place for you.  The area is well known for timber, golfing, hiking, and fishing. There are also some interesting history museums. One of them, the Butte County Historical Society, was created in 1931. The town was incorporated in a general election the following year. The first post office building, now called the Butte Community Center, was built in but is no longer operating. There are a gas station and two convenience stores. There is a gas station and some small grocery stores, and there’s also a lodge/restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and ice cream – just like any town in Oregon. If you want to shop, then it’s only a short drive over to the Portland area. Overall, this is a nice little town that’s worth a look at. It will make a good vacation spot if you like the outdoors.
