Tonight in downtown Portland, a solar company founded in Oregon’s Rogue Valley was named the #1 fastest growing private company in the state by the Portland Business Journal. Purelight Power is focused on making solar energy simple and affordable for homeowners, and the company has seen astronomical growth in its first 3 years. Between 2019 to 2021, the company grew 2,553.85%.
“When we started Purelight Power, we were just looking for a way to provide affordable home solar to our community. We never could have imagined the incredible growth we’ve seen in the last three years.” said Dusty Wynn, one of the company’s founders.
What began as a local solar company and team of four in the spring of 2019, has grown to over 250 employees spanning Oregon from Medford and Klamath Falls to Portland and Bend. Based on their success, the company has begun expanding into other states that are underserved for affordable residential solar. So far, that includes two offices in Iowa, in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids respectively, and an office in Billings, Montana that opened earlier this year.
Purelight Power’s growth mirrors the booming solar energy industry as a whole. According to the Office of Energy and Efficiency & Renewable Energy, solar is growing five times faster than the general rate of job growth in the US overall.
“Despite its reputation as a rainy state, much of Oregon is actually ideal for rooftop solar. Our decision to move back to Oregon and found our company here was as much about wanting to help establish a local company and hire local teams, as it was about wanting to key into the growth guaranteed with the booming solar industry.” said Co-Founder JD Beck.
The company is proud to be a member of Oregon’s economic engine, helping to grow opportunities in the state. So far, they’ve installed over 22,590 kilowatts worth of solar on rooftops across Oregon, Iowa, and Montana.
